[SSRC] Participation in the 2025 ITRC Talent Development Competition

Updated: Apr 30

April 24–26, COEX Hall A

The 2025 ITRC Talent Development Competition, held in conjunction with the World IT Show, brought together cutting-edge research teams from across Korea to showcase their most recent accomplishments in the ICT and AI fields. This annual exhibition continues to serve as a key platform for bridging academic research and industry innovation, drawing thousands of visitors from academia, industry, and government.

The Smart Media Service Research Center (SSRC) participated once again this year, presenting a wide range of multidisciplinary research that reflects the center’s commitment to innovation in OTT services, AI-powered media platforms, and immersive content environments.

Highlights from SSRC’s Booth:

  • High-Speed OTT Transmission: Research on a millimeter-wave on-chip transceivers developed to support ultra-high-speed, low-latency wireless OTT content delivery. The system was engineered to meet the growing demand for next-generation video services and demonstrated its applicability in dense media environments through a working prototype.

  • AI-based Harmful Content Detection: In response to the risks of short-form media, we introduced a zero-shot video moderation pipeline combining VLM and LLM technologies. This system can identify harmful content without requiring task-specific training, offering a scalable solution for platforms facing content regulation pressures.

  • Global OTT Policy & User Analytics: Our data-driven research on SVOD multihoming behavior spanned six countries, revealing how traditional and digital media consumption patterns intersect. These findings inform industry strategies and policy recommendations for managing competition in increasingly globalized media ecosystems.

  • Emotion Analytics in Transmedia: Drawing from neuroscience and media studies, our team presented an EEG-based study evaluating emotional responses to webtoon-based drama adaptations. The research revealed how visual and narrative fidelity to source material enhances viewer engagement—an insight crucial for future IP adaptation strategies.

This year’s event reaffirmed our center’s threefold mission: to lead OTT research through technological and social innovation, to train globally minded interdisciplinary scholars, and to collaborate with policymakers for a sustainable smart media ecosystem.
